Hello, my name is Jamie Nicolson. I am studying HNC Travel and Tourism and my task is to produce a Blog here for Digital Cultures. I am very passionate about my photography and my love for aviation. The aviation industry has taken a heavy blow during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Many flights have been cancelled and some airlines have completely fallen apart. I am going to take you on a journey of just how Covid-19 has affected these airlines at Central Scotlands main airports during lockdown and what it looks like heading into the future from a planes spotters point of view.

Many aircraft movements have been military or cargo flights.

Airports I will cover in this blog are

Edinburgh (EGPH/EDI)

Glasgow (EGPF/GLA)

Glasgow Prestwick (EGPK/PIK)

Edinburgh Airports symbol to the world. The iconic Air Traffic Control Tower lit up at night.

The terminal at Edinburgh Airport has been very soulless during the pandemic and passenger numbers have decreased. Much of the staff at the airport, land side and air side have lost their jobs or are on furlough. Many of the retail and catering outlets are remain closed and have been for months.

    1. Mmm that is a tough one to answer. There are many. Certainly seeing the An-225 during lockdown was amazing. The sheer size is incredible and with only one ever produced it was a rare and special sight to see. But hearing and seeing a spitfire is always good too. And the passenger carrying Air China 747 was special. I simply cannot pick a winner!
