The busiest day at Edinburgh Airport that I can ever recall..! Perhaps the busiest day at Edinburgh I can ever remember for the number of plane enthusiasts. On Friday 29th May 2020, Edinburgh Airport saw its biggest visitor it had had within the last few years. Many people left their homes to witness the rare bird at Edinburgh on a hot summers day. This Air China 747-400 B-2445 came into Edinburgh from Beijing on a repatriation flight. A repatriation flight is when the government organises a special charter flight in order to bring its own citizens back to their own country before borders closed. This was popular at the peak of the pandemic during summer. Their where many repatriation flights across the world. Air China arrived into Edinburgh as a cargo flight delivering PPE to the NHS and others who needed it first. It then subsequently depart to Shenzhen with around 200 Chinese students onboard to take them home.
